Dr. Patch Adams

Dr. Socrates A. Brito

Dr. Brito attentively listens to his patients. He thrives in helping patients understand their conditions and answering their questions. He works closely with his patients in developing a treatment plan to help them return to pre-injury form, relief pain, and improve function. Dr. Brito treats all conditions of the hand, elbow, and shoulder. He specializes in carpal tunnel, trigger finger, complex trauma, fracture care, osteoarthritis and tendonitis. He also treats work related injuries and sports injuries. Dr. Brito performs shoulder, elbow, wrist, and knee arthroscopy. Outside the office, Dr. Brito enjoys mentoring medical studentsand residents. Dr. Brito is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Stuart C. King

Dr. King is trained in Anesthesiology but has worked as a pain management specialist with Christie Clinic in Champaign for about the last 15 years.  He also has an MBA and in the Department of Spine and Pain Management, Dr. King specializes in painful disorders of the spine and back. Dr. King has a Hospital Affiliation with Carle Foundation Hospital and Provena Covenant Medical Center. He also serves as an Assistant Professor at UIC College of Medicine.

The speaker for chapter will be the University of Illinois's very own career center. We will have a speaker come in to talk about interviewing for medical school, so make sure you come with plenty of questions that will help you on your journey to medical school!

Mr. Matt Dudley

Mr. Dudley is a medical malpractice lawyer and co-founder of the firm Dudley and Lake. He has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements in counties throughout Illinois. May have represented the biggest settlements in county history. Mr. Dudley serves on the Board of Managers for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Lake County Bar Association and American Trial Lawyers Association where he serves on the Leaders Forum. In 2002, he was named by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin as one of "40 under 40". He has been consistently recognized by his peers both as a "Leading Lawyer" and "Super Lawyer". 

Our chapter will be having a medical student panel coming to speak with us this upcoming chapter. A couple of them are alumni from our chapter: Karthic Chandran, Philip Schoenrock, and Chris Nemeh. We will also be having two students from the University of Illinois Medical School attending as well. Please make sure to come in with questions prepared as this is a great opportunity to learn more about how to be a successful pre-medical student and the lifestyle you will be seeing in medical school!

Dr. Lo

We will be having Dr. Lo who is a cardio-thorasic surgeon coming in for our upcoming chapter. He will be talking about what being a surgeon is really like as well as walking us through a case he has encountered. Dr. Lo is attended Tulane University School of Medicine, Louisiana  and then did his residency at Baylor University Hospital, Texas. He has 40 years of experience and will be sharing his expertise with us this upcoming chapter. 

Mr.  Awais Vaid

Awais Vaid is the Director of Planning and Research and the Epidemiologist at the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District. He has worked at the Health District since 2004.  He received his Medical Degree from Mumbai, India and his Masters in Public Health from Northern Illinois University. He is a Fellow of the Public Health Leadership Institute at University of Illinois Chicago and also serves as member of the Institutional Biosafety Committee at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.

We will be having a short presentation from a study/volunteer abroad panel made up of members of our very own Phi Delta Epsilon chapter! Make sure to come prepared with any questions you may have about the experiences, costs, or even process of signing up for a trip!
